First project: a Bargello coaster

Small, on plastic canvas.

Step by step

1. Cut a small square of 10-mesh plastic canvas with smooth edges.
2. Stitch the first row from the chart.
3. Add rows of other colours, checking each row's stitch lengths.
4. Fill to the edges, including the tiny stitches.
5. Finish the edges with whip stitch, stitching over the tail as you start.
