Janome 230DC LE review
a beginner favourite, made a little more beginner-proof

7.6/10 provisional Provisional
Janome UK says the Limited Edition 230DC adds an easy-set bobbin case (no need to pull up the bobbin thread) and a sensor that stops the machine sewing until the presser foot is down. Those fix two of the commonest beginner frustrations. The 360DC LE adds a thread-cutter button. Researched from retailer and maker listings; we have not tested it, and the score is provisional.
you want a computerised beginner machine with fewer ways to go wrong.
you want a thread cutter (look at the 360DC LE) or heavy-duty sewing.
What owners and reviewers like
- Easy-set bobbin: no pulling up long thread tails
- Will not sew with the presser foot up
- 30 stitches, 3 one-step buttonholes (retailer listing)
- Hard cover and 2-year warranty (retailer listing)
What to watch for
- The £399 introductory offer has ended
- No thread cutter (the 360DC LE has one)
- Too new for long-term reliability reports
