Trapunto: a beginner's guide
Stuffed quilting that raises a design.
- Trapunto, from the Italian for 'to quilt', is a stuffed quilting technique.
- It raises parts of a quilt above the rest.
- Traditionally the underside is slit and padded.
- A modern machine method adds extra batting behind a motif before quilting.
- Dense quilting around the motif makes it stand out.
