First project: a four-patch baby quilt top

Join 5 inch charm squares into four-patch blocks, then sew the blocks into rows.
Step by step
- Take two packs of 5 inch charm squares (Leah Day's pattern uses two 40-square packs, prints and solids).
- Sew two squares together with a 1/4 inch seam and press.
- Sew two of those pairs together, nesting the centre seam, to make a four-patch block.
- Make 40 blocks.
- Lay them out on the floor, move them about until you like the spread of colour, then sew into rows.
- Sew the rows together, nesting seams. Your top is ready to quilt.
