How to do raw-edge fusible appliqué

Trace, fuse, cut, place and stitch.
Step by step
- Trace each shape in reverse on the paper side of the fusible web, about 6 mm apart.
- Rough cut, place glue side down on the wrong side of the fabric and press as the pack says.
- Let it cool and cut exactly on the lines.
- Peel off the paper, arrange shapes on the background (underneath pieces first) and press straight down. Lift and set the iron; don't slide.
- Put tear-away stabiliser behind the background.
- Stitch round each edge with blanket stitch about 2 to 3 mm wide, or a small zigzag. Test on scraps first.
- Pull thread tails to the back and knot, tear away the stabiliser, press from the back on a towel.

Bobbin's tip
Cut the background an inch bigger than needed; stitching can shrink it a little. Trim to size at the end.
