Darning

Repairing holes or worn areas with needle and thread alone, weaving rows of running stitch across the gap.

Repairs left deliberately on show, to decorate the item and celebrate that it has been mended.

Covering a hole with a piece of fabric, inside or out. For jeans, a denim patch stitched in a grid from the inside is a common fix.
