What you need for wired slips

Wire, cotton and fine thread.
- Fine floral wire, around 30 gauge, for a less bulky edge.
- Fabric matched to your thread, such as Kona cotton; organza or tulle for insect wings.
- Embroidery needles size 8 to 10, and six-stranded cotton used one strand at a time.
- Small sharp scissors; pliers and tweezers help shape wire.
- A large-eyed needle to insert slips into the main piece.
- Two layers of fabric for the main embroidery, to carry the extra weight.
