Stumpwork: a beginner's guide
Raised, three-dimensional embroidery.
- Stumpwork, or raised work, is embroidery where figures stand up from the surface.
- It uses padding and wire.
- Wired slips are separate 3D pieces made with wire, fabric and thread, then attached.
- You only need a handful of stitches, but plenty of patience.
